Keynote Speaker I

Prof. Ioannis Vayas

Institute of Steel Structures, National Technical University of Athens, Greece

Prof. I. Vayas is graduate from the School of Civil Engineering at the National Technical University in Athens (1976) Greence, Dr.-Ing. of the Technical University of Braunschweig (1981) Germany and Welding Engineer of SLV Hannover Germany. He holds a honorary doctorate from the University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He teaches design of steel structures, composite steel-concrete structures and design of steel and composite bridges. He is author of 9 books in Greek, 3 in German and two in English, all from renowned Publishers. He is author of 80 papers in International Journals and around 120 papers in international Conference Proceedings.  He participated as scientific responsible in numerous (50) basic and applied research projects on seismic behavior and design of steel structures, analysis and design of composite bridges, masts and towers for telecommunications, assessment and seismic strengthening of historical buildings and monuments, behavior and design of sandwich panels, analysis and design of composite slabs etc. with major funding from the EU, various companies and the Greek Ministry of Science and Technology.  He designed numerous projects that include, among others, various steel structures, buildings, strikethrough bridges, cut-and cover tunnels, towers and masts and served as expert on the causes of structural failures. He has worked on drafting panels for National and International regulations, like for Eurocode 3, where he serves as national representative of Greece.  From 2011 to 2020 he served as Director of the Institute of Steel Structures at NTUA (Asian) Chinese (PRC).

Prof. Thomas Schroepfer

Advanced Architecture Laboratory, Singapore University of Technology and Design, Singapore

Prof Thomas Schroepfer obtained his doctoral degree and master' s degree with distinction from Harvard University. He began his academic career at Harvard' s Graduate School of Design where he was appointed Assistant Professor of Architecture in 2004 and Associate Professor of Architecture in 2008. He was named Full Professor after joining the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) in 2011, where he became the Founding Programme Director and Associate Head of Pillar of Architecture and Sustainable Design currently serves as the Co-Director of the SUTD-JTC I3 Centre and the Director of the University' s award-winning Advanced Architecture Laboratory. He has published extensively on his work, which has been exhibited at important international venues including the Venice Biennale and the World Architecture Festival. His books have been translated into several languages and include Dense+Green Cities: Architecture as Urban Ecosystem (2020), Dense+Green: Innovative Building Types for Sustainable Urban Architecture (2016) and Ecological Urban Architecture (2012). Professor Schroepfer is the recipient of prestigious awards and recognitions including the President' s Design Award, Singapore's highest honour accorded to designers and designs across all disciplines; the German Design Award; and the Asia Education Leadership Award.

Prof. Nuno Dinis Corticos

Department of Technologies in Architecture, Urbanism and Design at Faculdade de Arquitectura, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal

Nuno Dinis Cortiços is Professor and Chair on Building's Energy Certification at the Department of Technologies in Architecture, Urbanism and Design at Faculdade de Arquitectura, Universidade de Lisboa; Ph.D in Building Science and active member in Research Centre for Architecture, Urbanism and Design (CIAUD) associated to Fundacão para a Ciencia e Tecnologia (FCT). As Researcher focuses on building's renovation, autonomous maintenance systems, sensor and nano-technology applied to maintenance, building's performance and renovation's simulations on buildings stock, and maintenance accuracy applied to Unesco heritage; presenting and publishing the outcomes, mainly, at Scopus Conferences and Elsevier Journals. Board technical member at "Building and Environmental"; Architectural Research Centers Consortium, Inc (ARCC); and, European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE). Other accomplishments, Vice-President of the Faculty's Board, responsible for Financial Management and Maintenance; Building Supervisor on quality and warranty; and Team Leader on architecture designs; and, Judicial Technical Consultant on construction quality.

Keynote Speaker IV

Assoc Prof. Katarzyna Zielonko-Jung

Department of  Environmental Design at the Faculty of Architecture at Gdansk University of Technology, Poland

Katarzyna Zielonko Jung an architect, scientist, academic teacher; an Associate Professor at the Department of  Environmental Design at the Faculty of Architecture at Gdansk University of Technology. Her scientific interests focus primarily on the issues connected to ecological architecture. She is the author and the co-author of numerous publications, including the following monographs: Contemporary Ecological Architecture (2012), Shaping of ecological architecture in urban structure (2013). Moreover, she authored various chapters in monographs and articles published in scientific journals, all in the field of ecological architectural solutions and the correlation between shape of building developments and microclimatic phenomena that occur within urban spaces, especially in terms of aerodynamic phenomena. She is also an active architect, she authors and co-authors architectural design of residential and public buildings, as well as interior design. She is a member of Gdansk Architecture Council, Municipal Urban Planning and Architectural Commission of Gdynia, Polish Architects Association.

Dr. Anna Stefanska

Wydział Architektury Politechniki Warszawskiej, Katedra Projektowania Konstrukcji, Budownictwa i Infrastruktury Technicznej, Poland

Dr. Anna Stefanska is a Researcher at Warsaw University of Technology in the Department of Architecture. She has a Ph.D. in Generative tools applied in structural optimization and holds diplomas in two fields: Architecture and Civil Engineering. Her research interests cover interdisciplinary structural optimization, which employs Architectural Algorithmic Design, Structural Design, Material, and Technological aspects of Fabrication. She is also a member of an international research lab, which focuses on energy efficiency and material optimization in all stages, from the early stage of design to maintenance management.
